Who We Are

How We’re Funded

Georgia Options is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. We have an annual budget of approximately $3 million.

The overwhelming majority of our funding comes from Medicaid Waivers. A Medicaid Waiver is a stream of federal and state funding appropriated for the community-based services of a person with a disability. In Georgia, Medicaid Waiver services are jointly overseen by the Department of Community Health and the Department of Human Services (formerly the Department of Human Resources). A person’s access to a Medicaid Waiver is determined by need, disability and funding availability. We receive a small amount of state funds.

The Role of Private Support

· People pay their own bills and their own rent.

· For those needs not covered by Medicaid or private income, we write community-based grants (local churches, local foundations)

· Since FY 2001, we’ve collected $414,825 in private grant money.

· In FY 2003, we collected $17,740 in private donations. Any undesignated funds were given to the Georgia Options Foundation.

Georgia Options supports people with disabilities

to live in their own homes and to have typical life experiences.
