How
We're Funded
Georgia Options is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization.
We have an annual budget of approximately $3 million.
The overwhelming majority of our funding comes from Medicaid Waivers.
A Medicaid Waiver is a stream of federal and state funding appropriated
for the community-based services of a person with a disability. In
Georgia, Medicaid Waiver services are jointly overseen by the Departments
of Community Health and Human Resources. A person’s access
to a Medicaid Waiver is determined by need, disability and funding
availability.
We receive a small amount of state funds.
The Role of Private Support
• People pay their own bills and their own rent.
• For those needs not covered by Medicaid or private income,
we write community-based grants (local churches, local foundatons)
• Since FY 2001, we’ve collected
$41,4825 in private grant money.
• In FY 2003, we collected $17,740 in private donations. Any
unrestricted funds were designated to the Foundation.
