Georgia Options makes real life possible! One example is a young woman named June. Before coming to Georgia Options, June rarely left her apartment and felt she had little voice in decisions affecting her life. Now, she lives in a house with one other young woman. Both women decided to share a home. June manages her own money with assistance. She has new friends and opportunities to visit her family. She has graduated from a program called Partners in Policymaking, where she learned to be an effective self-advocate. She has met the Governor of Georgia and advocated for community living options for herself and others. She has a small part-time job. June says she feels respected and listened to. With assistance from her support staff, she has written a book about her life, which she hopes to publish some day. Most importantly, she says she is enjoying her life!
